Here is an interesting find. To me this watch looks like it has the Breitling 'B' on the face. Would that be right? A few other interesting things to note: - The name Spaulding (which I believe was a jeweller) is spelled incorrectly on the face. - The intermediate 5 minute markers look to me like they are shaped like airplanes. - I can't find the import code 'XYS' recorded anywhere (i.e. Ranfft) The movement is a Felsa 690 - would that date it to 1940's? |

The actual style of the dial is correct for a mid 1950's Breitling. On this Felsa movement it should say Breitling on the rotor if it was original breitlin. If you have the caseback with reference number and serial number we can get more specific. I can't imagine any jeweler having Spaulding engraved on the movement where it wouldn't be seen, the dial maybe. |

Don't recognise the import code off the top of my head either, but it's clearly not a Breitling code so at the very least the balance cock is non Breitling and that looks original to the movement. Spaulding & Co. were a Chicago based jeweller / retailer of high end pieces - PP et al, but generally earlier than this would be - late 19th / early 20th century and I think that they generally insisted on their name being spelled correctly ![]() |

Thank-you for your replies. Unfortunately I don't have a case for it, so I think it will remain a mystery as to the provenance. I will try to find a suitable case to re-case it and maybe get the dial repaired as it will be nice looking watch to wear. |
