The Breitling Watch Source Forums

I have seen several 70s watches on offer that have neither model numbers nor period correct serial nos. on the casebacks, although dials look authentic, hands and movements sometimes questionable.
recased Frankenwatches ? as the mid 70s were a time of massive economical turmoil for Breitling is there any indication they might have used "non-standard" casebacks as discussed in other forums (although I very much doubt that) ?

Serial on the second one looks consistent - not sure on the ref # as I don't have any books in the office. Movement is unmarked though. First one has a lot more problems than the model / serial numbers (G. Leon Breitling Ltd in the 70s??).

Breitling did some very odd things in the 70s and there definitely are some genuine oddities out there. However this 70s look was also used by a lot of other makers which makes faking very easy. I'm not a 70s expert by any means, but there are a lot of dubious pieces.

#2: "model no." is 592 or 692, both not listed in Richter
serial no. would place it in 1971, pre-turmoil
actually movement is marked, but I have never seen this kind of bridge marking from Breitling

Oddities aside, these two pieces just don't look right... the first one has got that "blue" dial that if I recall correctly, some of these generic dials are available through various watch supply companies and sellers resign them with Breitling. I think Craig has mentioned something about that before.

Can't say 100% sure because of again, of the oddities but I don't get a right vibe from them.

I've not really had time to look hard at the watches you've posted so can't comment on them, but I can say I have seen 70's chrongraphs that are marked with numbers that Richter lists in the Stopwatches section, which would be consistent with a 5xx number.
