Okay not quite...

I thought after over two years of collecting what kind of collector doesn't have his own watch strap tool... so I picked up a Bergeon 6767f to everyone's recommendation... best 16 bucks spent by the way...

had some quick questions though and wanted to ask everybody... what's another tool or item I should have... but let's keep it on the basic basic (yes I said basic twice ) level? I don't plan to start taking apart movements anytime soon or even ever for that matter... Second, what's a good way to store these things... those tips look awful fragile and don't want to mess them up... But just curious... any suggestions welcome!

I keep mine in the box that it came in, and then that's stored in my watchmaker's bench.

In terms of 'must have' tools, I never go anywhere on a buying trip without a case opener and a loupe. I have a Jaxa opener for the bench, but a case knife and a rubber ball are generally enough for the road - if I am going somewhere that has a lot I'll take my Jaxa along because I have come across some screwbacks that resist the ball treatment.

The loupe doesn't need to be overly powerful, just enough to be able to check out the movement and dial before handing over the cash.

Beyond that, decent screwdrivers for screwed bracelets and punch or similar for pinned bracelets.

You might want a bracelet link tool for removing pins. This little tool is quite portable and does a good job. http://www.esslinger.com/watchrepairtoo ... mover.aspx The price isn't bad either.

A loupe and a bracelet pin removing tool...

Not feeling too confident about the caseback opening tools as Roff mentioned but definitely in the future. I totally forgot about the loupe. I'm kinda wanting a folding display pad or those jewelry pads? (is that what you call it?) for the strap/bracelet changes. Anyone know where I can get one? I found a nice one with the Omega logo on it on TZ awhile back for cheap and missed out on it.

Also question for the pin removing tool... this won't work for links having screws for obvious reasons? That means a set of screwdrivers too...

Believe it or not I've got oneof those pink Horb plastic balls which has been the only thing to take the back off some watches which require a special tool for screw off backs (like an 1806). It actually works pretty well.
