have been following ae-antiques for some time, a clear front for SA-Fakes ! close to 100% feedback, selling dozens of fake watches every week, at prices often higher than the real vintage pieces go for ! I have accepted that reporting those scammers to ebay makes little sense, but what about a sticky thread, where we "name and shame" these sellers ? Any more or less serious Breitling collector will sooner or later be lucky enough to find this forum, maybe we can extend the rather successful "Breitling Police" service to vintage watches ? WatchFred (who hates those scams, as you can probably tell) |

Roff - if you know of a connection between Angelus and Breitling, that is news to me as I had never seen one before? As for exposing fake sellers on ebay, posting and exposing them would probably be a waste of time (sad but true). The best we can hope for is they check this forum 1st. There are a lot of buyers out there who don't care if they buy a fake. |

Agree on the sentiment on the fake sellers, we just have to deal with things on a case by case basis when people ask. Look at the feedback and sales volumes on these sellers - people just don't care what they buy. |

That would mean listing 20 watches a day none of us wants to look at. I do not really think people do not care, I suppose most buy a vintage "Breitling" out of interest and respect for the brand. If you are infected by the vintage Breitling and start to dream about collecting, sooner or later you will come here to learn. A name and shame list would hurt the scammers in the long run. You just have to accept that there are hundreds of frankenwatches out there at any given time - it's the nature of the business. I am not prepared to deal with the lawsuits that will follow from a "these sellers sell fakes" list when some of their watches may be real and where there is no official adjudicator who can say real or fake. With modern Breitlings it's easy, with vintage we are dealing largely with opinions. We all know the reality, but if you start going beyond comments on individual pieces it becomes a very slippery slope, and nothing is going to change anyway. There is a reason why hundreds of these South American watches sell every week - there is a market for them. |

I did forget about the fact that this you live in litigation paradise. to quote John Cleese: "8. You will learn to resolve personal issues without using guns, lawyers or therapists. The fact that you need so many lawyers and therapists shows that you’re not adult enough to be independent. Guns should only be handled by adults. If you’re not adult enough to sort things out without suing someone or speaking to a therapist then you’re not grown up enough to handle a gun." Although, looking at the current offerings of ae-antiques, the risk that any of these might be authentic is quite slim. |
