I never intended to do this, but I ended up buying that white-dial 2114 that was on eBay.

My previous post was sincere: I really only wanted to know where the 2114 fit into the Chrono-Matic range. I had never heard of it before. Now I can post photos about one. Mine! :D

The serial number and improved Cal. 11 (Breitling's Cal. 112) movement place is squarely at 1970 production. I don't really care. I love the design, I love the bracelet, I love the shape, I love the details, and most of all I love the way it fits my wrist!

I still have the original question: Where does the 2114 fit into the 2110/12/14 range? Not all 2114's use a beveled case, right? That was an optional item. Is the 2114 different for its dial layout? Maybe its use of movement?

Curious minds want to know!

Thanks for the comments. I'm still hoping someone can explain what is different about the 2114 in comparison to the other 211x series.

Yes, it is. I was just telling a friend how it is the nicest folded metal bracelet that I have worn. It is very Seventies in that only one link is removable, but it still fits my narrow wrist, I just have to put the top portion far into the buckle.

I was uncertain about the engraving on the buckle, but I found a few similar examples while searching the web.

The seller told me that it was a local Texas example that had sat in a jeweler's stock for years, eventually finding its way to him in a trade. The nice thing for me is that (according to the caseback engraving) it was last serviced in January 2007. My local watch repairer put it on his timer and it was running -2/+7 on a partially wound spring. Not too bad.

I believe it's just the case design that's the difference... the 2110s are round, the 2114s are tonneau... a few more I left out...

I THINK...

Thanks. I still have no definitive answer, but from the bits of information that I have gleaned across various fora and sites, I think the difference(s) between the 2112 and 2114 might be:

1 - The 2112 has a fixed bezel whereas the 2114 rotates
2 - The 2112 came with Cal. 12 movements but the 2114 came with either Cal. 11 or Cal. 112
3 - Someone suggested that perhaps there were different options for the outer ring between the two (i.e. the 2112 did not come with a UPH version or maybe the 2114 was offered in a medical version)

As far as cases go, that seems to be the one aspect that is the same. The 2112 and the 2114 came with the same tonneau-shaped case, and both were available with an optional beveled-edge version like the one I have.

I would love input on any or all of the above items. It still makes me wonder why Breitling coded a watch 2114 yet produced another one (2112) that was nearly identical to it with with a lower-digit model number. :?:

Now I think I am ready to start looking for what I originally planned to get, a 2129 TransOcean...
