Post subject: | Help identifying vintage model |
Hi All, This is my first post here. Without pictures I know it is a shot in the dark, but thought I would see if I could get some help identifying a watch ![]() A local jewelery consigner has a Breitling he claims is 1930's vintage but has no supporting paperwork. Before I go back to take a second look I wanted to find out as much as I could about the watch, unfortunately I do not have any pictures. I spend a good 2-3 hours searchihng google but could not find a similar watch. The watch is a rose gold chronograph with a monopusher. There are no other pushers on the watch. The watch has a sliver dial with the cursive breitling on the dial, and blue hands. There is no model name on the watch. The watch has a display back (which I assume is not original), but you can see a rose gold venus movement as well, however I did not see any breitling markings on the movement. Can anyone help me determine what this is, and if it is even real. I will go back and try and get some photos as well but wanted to go back with some more info too. If it is real I am sure to buy it as it is a stunning piece. Thanks for the help! |

Single pusher sounds right... display back definitely does not... can't really tell without pics... any numbers/markings will help. The thing with vintage pieces that anything can look right to the untrained eye. But replacement crowns, non-original dials, etc. will devalue the piece. Get some pics and we'll help you out. |

With an after market display back we have likeloy lost any identifying numbers and I am always very suspicious of a Breitling branded dial in a monopusher that is this early - much more common to see blank or Montbrillant dials. Pure guesswork without seeing it though. |

A Breitling from this era will have a steel movement, and likely show some dark oxidation. If it's a two register model, I think the movement will also be marked "Montbrillant Watch My." From your description, it sounds like a very nice piece, but probably a new creation. |
