Looking through 'the book' the ref 785 Datoras is indicated as having the Venus 191. Is this Valjoux 72c wrong then? http://cgi.ebay.com/Breitling-Datora-Triple-Calendar-day-Date-Chronograph-/320646184401?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item4aa8007dd1 |

Breitling used 191s and 72Cs in the 785 - no idea why - back to the Valjoux / Venus 806 discussion again. |

Get this, just informed by another member that he tried to sell the watch in December of last year. Quickly withdrew the auction before it ended when it was apparent he wasn't going to get his price. Evidently there are some questions about the serial numbers and the movement not being correct. There is something going on fishy with the serial numbers for sure since the early auction has seven digits. ![]() http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320634308026&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT |

You can see where the seventh digit (2) has been stamped out , which makes the 785 below the serial ,off centre. |

This is an exceptionally good fake. Clearly the last digit of the serial number has been photoshopped / polished out in the current auction to make the serial consistent with the era. I discounted the stamping font / block letters on the inside of the caseback when you first posted because I have seen so many variations on 18k cases. I'm convinced that the dial is real, and I can't see any problems with the movement - although of course mid 40s pieces are easier to create because we don't expect to see marked movements. |

Yeah, I was told these Datoras ALWAYS have the ref and serial number on the back of the case, not inside. I don't know for sure so just passing that along fwiw. |
