Ok, what am I missing here? $1000 for a basket case? I was into it for a while just for the case.

Yeah I did a double take too when I saw the current bidding. I can only assume that some people feel that it's restorable, and if it is then it's not too bad a price at the moment. Heck of a risk though.

Make that three... I was going to ask Craig if it was possible too... but it looked too damaged... didn't want to risk the money especially how scarce v.178 parts are...

I can't believe I still can't get a hold of an 806... :(

I purchased my 178 as a water damaged non runner, with more damage than this looks to have,I soaked it brake disc cleaner for 24 hrs, then sewing machine oil for 24 hrs, repeated process twice more, blew it off, wound it up,and it's been running ever since, the regulator is well over on the advanced side, but it's keeping fairly good time , and the best bit is, it only owes me £48.00.

Sold for $1405.00! Too much even for me to make anything on this one.

Yeah, I was thinking about you Craig. Don't think I've sent one this bad to you before. Well, maybe one that was close.

I got a Valjoux 232 recently that was rusty to put together a Wakmann (have the case and dial). It turned out to be a total loss - just too much rust! It is a BIG gamble with something like this.
