How much is it worth??

I also need help with identification of my dad's Breitling. It is rose gold and numbers on the back are
629952. Was wanting to find out its worth There is no strap, paperwork or box.

OK, so 1945 is the year.

Tough to say too much more as it's not the greatest photo. It looks OK from what I can see, value will depend on condition, whether it has been serviced, etc. Is it solid gold - i.e. has hallmarks on the caseback?

Please don't run it - if it's been in a drawer for at least 30 years then it has no lubrication and running it may well cause damage.

Given that it's a gold case, and assuming that everything is as it should be then it's probably worth $1,200 - $1,500 in the condition that it's in.

Just found this watch in my fathers basement... On the left side of the case is a number: 7104 Black dial. Date window between 4' and 5' position On the back below the name Breitling is the number 40 And below that is the serial number 1414358 Here are some pictures...

The watch dates to 1973 and should look like this one but with a black dial. Two different bezel styles available.

The model is called Long Playing in the brochure from that time period. You can get the genuine Tropic straps, as used by Breitling on the originals, from squinky.com. They're not cheap but you can sometimes get lucky and find them on ebay a little more reasonable.

As Elwyn says, we will need some photos of the watch. Depending on the style of the watch all we know from the serial number is that it dates to 1945 or 1952.

It is solid gold, does run, I have not had it serviced. Just in my jewelery box since my mom passed in 1988, he passed in 1981. He was in Britain/Germany in 1945

As a general rule you won't get your money back on servicing, but in this case it is probably at least worth getting an estimate. I discounted my price a little bit for the fact that servicing could be expensive - without seeing the movement there is no way of telling the condition so we have to go from what we know - that it hasn't been loved for at least 30 years. If water has got in and rusted the movement then it may not even be salvageable. If you get it serviced and get a cosmetic restoration if needed (I can't tell from that photo) then it is probably closer to $1,800, maybe a little more.
