Post subject:  Need to Identify this Breitling

Sorry if this kind of post is annoying. I'm a Breitling 'virgin', I have a collection of others but have never come across a sensible Bretling before.
Anyway, I've now obtained a 14 micron plated vintage manual chrono (also with tachymeter) but the case back only has 17993 stamped on it. I'm loathe to open the case back so cant give any other numbers other than that.

It has two sub dials showing seconds and a 30 minute range, together with sweep second hand which stops as it should. Round buttons, as opposed to the square ones I've seen searching the net. The dial is marked "Breitling Geneve, 17 Jewels, Incabloc, Antimagnetic". It has the 14 micron stamped on the side of the case together with something else I cant quite make out due to wear. It seems like 9 characters in rows of 3 on top of wach other -very tiny.

Stanless steel case screw caseback saying "Waterprotected and Antimagnetic"

Any help with identifying this watch would be of great help to the family.

Welcome to the site Tony.
If you could post a picture (preferably front and back) it would be great.

Thanks,

Elwyn

Does not sound right to me.

Number is wrong format for either model or serial number and Breitling plating was 20 micron.

Will need a picture to be sure. I'm also moving this to the vintage section.

Condition suggests a redial, but tough to see much from that.

I've now had the watch checked and back removed. Its says 7730 and is marked on the top of the escapement "Cadet". The advance and retard system shows the old type "F" and "S" lever
nothing marked inside the back. Any further ideas ?

Yep, it's not a Breitling, it's a Cadet, or at least the movement was stolen from a Cadet - one of the lesser known brands of the time.
