Hi again another question about early "dress" style breitling,
Is it real or fake?? how can i tell these old watches, what indicates real or imitation etc??
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... K:MEWAX:IT
watches like this seem to be cheap " fake " but i like this style i just want a real breitling if they exist like this, rather than a fake,
is it unrealistic to find an watch of this vintage for $200 or so?

thanks,

Chris

You can tell that this is fake in about 1 second.

The Breitling logo that is on it was first used in 1984.

There are no secrets to these - it's just building knowledge.

You need to check for the serial Nos on the case back, unless Roff corrects me on the info I have, serial Nos should be SIX digits.the first THREE digits on non Chrono's begin 298xxx and the first THREE digits on Chrono's begin 563xxx Both as far as I know appertain to the year 1944, with the 1950' starting with 447xxx non Chrono and 740xxx for Chrono's.

Accurate serial number tables are at - http://www.lesmala.net/jean-michel/navitimer/index2.htm - click on the S/N per year link on the left.
