Post subject:  1969 Breitling Cadette

Hi forum,

I have been handed a Breitling Cadette by my dad and was hoping you guys could provide me with some information about the model.

My Dad recalls purchasing it as a celebration of the moon landing? The details on the back are as follows;

1302728
1155

Any help would be appreciated as I believe it is a beautiful timepiece. Would love to be able to tell my dad a bit more about it.

Many thanks.

Ian

Well pictures will help, but it is a 1969 model.

The 1155 is a Valjoux 7733 by 1969 (Richter claims 7730 but that was replaced with the 7733 in 1967). I don't remember whether this one has the 30 minute or 45 minute counter, but I'm sure that you can tell us.

It's interesting that you mention that it's a Cadette. That's a name from the 40s and 50s, and 69 is very late for that name - we had a similar watch (same model number) a few months ago from 1968, but the pictures have been removed now so can't check.

It looks like a perfectly valid Cadette, and obviously your father has had it since new so we know the history. It's still a little bit of a mystery that these pieces were available with such late serial numbers as the model is generally considerably earlier. It's not in the 1969 catalogue, and it's not a late 60s style of watch so we still have a bit of a mystery as to what Breitling were doing, but it's a very nice watch and looks to be in very good condition.

Many thanks for your help. Do you know where I might be able to find more information about the watch?

Honestly this is the place in terms of Breitling vintage to get the best information. Even Breitling corporate won't even be of much help. If you have access to some books such as Richters it might help too. Nice piece by the way.

Richter's got nothing on the 1155 except a reference on the movement (and that's only partially correct). This is not a well documented piece, which is a shame, because it's an enigma from Breitling.

Well that said... it's the first time I've seen one too... :santa:
