Last two years have been tough but things are looking up as I have time to think about watches again ;-)

I like the look of this watch but don't like the fact it is in Argentina (Vintagejewelrywarches)
Is there such a watch as Breitling ACIER and is this watch for real?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT

Thanks James

Fake. The Breitling on the back and the number have been recently engraved. The Breitling on the movement was also added. The redone dial in itself doesn't make it a fake but does lead one to think it is since the other areas have been manipulated.

I bought a nice ladies vintage Breitling out of Argentina and had it restored so there are certainly genuine watches down there. You just have to look carefully.

'Acier' is Swiss French for 'Steel', and 'Acier Inox' or 'Acier Onoxyable' means stainless steel.

A lot of Argentinian dealers have a reputation for refurbishing or replacing the original dial, in some cases with unbelievably shocking results  - I'd say this is probably a later dial, but not sure.

The other forum guys will no doubt have comments on the movement. :yeahthat

Mike

Nothing right about this one at all. Don't recognise the movement, but it's out of a generic no name watch. Paul's a braver man than me, I won't buy South American pieces.

Thanks Gonermike, Vintage and Roff.

That's $300 saved.

Does that mean I can put $300 against my next vintage watch and increase my budget ;-)
