Hi,

I'm thinking of having a small bid on this. It looks nice and sounds genuine.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks,

Not enough photos - no movement or caseback, and it looks like a redial to me - look at the tachymetre scale around 1 - 2 o'clock.

Every ref 815 Top Time I've seen says Top Time on the dial.

:yeahthat

on both comments... I guess they forgot to add the "Top Time" when redoing the dial...

Thanks for the comments. The seller insists it is all original; but you guys seem to know your greyhounds.

I wonder if it's worth the money, new dial or not...

Not in my opinion.

You have no way of knowing what kind of movement is in it, and with a non original dial there is zero reason to believe that the movement is original.

Thanks. I'll let it go and keep looking.

After seeing what this sold for, and having another look, I think it was erroneously described as being a Top Time when, in fact, it's a Long Playing. In the early 1970's they evidently dropped the Top Time from the dial and described the watch only as "Long Playing." You can look at Pg 5 of the 1970 catalog here on Breitlingsource and see an example. Now, whether the dial has been redone or not remains a mystery.

THREAD REVIVAL

found this one...

the seller states "may need a battery"...

in all seriousness, I think you're right Paul... this one doesn't have Top Time on the dial too...
