I saw a reference to "smaller navitimers" on one of the threads here. Despite having a Chronomat, my dream watch has always been a navitimer, BUT I find the current models TOO BIG. I think I saw a reference to vintage units that were in the 38mm range, which, to MY eye, is about right

Can someone send me a link to a reference to which vintage models were smaller, or a list?

Virtually any Breitling prior to 1970 was sub 40mm. In terms of Navitimers, the 806 in its various generations will be a good size for you - there are hundreds of threads here about it.

The ONLY reason I brought up "vintage" is I didn't know about the airborne being current - I wish I HAD know when I bought by Chronomat - I probably would have just bought one - new

It's not current, it was discontinued in 1997.

Is this a modern or vintage Chronomat? If it's not vintage might be worth looking at an 808 which comes in at about 37mm if I remember right.

These can be picked up very reasonably, IMHO still undervalued.

Otherwise most of the roundcase TopTimes come in at about 37/38mm, same with the Longplayers. Have a flick through the catalogue here.

What size would you like?

It's a 1997 model (with the UTC module) - I've only gotten to wear it about 7 total days since I bought it - I noticed it was running WAY slow, so it's been up at BUSA for overhaul since the 11th

As for size - that's about the right size - the new stuff is just too BIG IMHO
