Post subject: | Expensive Fake up for auction? |
Evidently there's a big auction going on in Mannhein, Germany this weekend, http://www.uhren-muser.de. Going through the listings I find this one (Lot Nr 173). The back cover looks a little suspicious to me. Note the ROP export code on the balance. I believe that's for a Rodania. Probably still an expensive watch but I don't think it ever started life as a Breitling. I used to live down the road from Mannheim a few miles in Kaiserslautern. Wish I was still there so I could go look for myself. ![]() Breitling à Genève, Geh. My reference has ROP as both Rodania and something stated as "zone - xW. Fy." No idea what the heck that is, but I agree, this isn't a Breitling. Yet again the script and print Breitling logos on the same watch, the moonphase is not particularly Breitling like, and it doesn't look like a Breitling case. Serial number is obviously also inconsistent. A real shame because as a Rodania this would have been an absolutely gorgeous watch in either fantastic condition or with a great restoration. |
