Would need to see photos of the caseback and movement, but it's either a redial or a fake, and likely both.

To find that out, a ref. number would come in handy.

Cheers

Also, what makes it obviously fake, rather than a redial...

Thanks

More evidence that it's not real - script Breitling on the dial, print Breitling on the caseback - that just wouldn't happen. Don't recall a 503 (there was a 4503 and 8503), but don't have the books to hand at work.

It'll be a snap on caseback, a thin blade between caseback and case will pry it off - just be careful not to damage the movement with the blade.

See attached movement pics.

The inside of the back is also hand signed (very very faintly) "ORC 552" and "XT1149"

Is this a total fake? :(

Cheers

Phil

The caseback markings are watchmaker marks. There's no serial number which is another condemnation, and while it's not that clear, the Breitling on the movement doesn't look original either - total fake for me.

On the picture: another marriage, fake, whatever you want to call it, just don't buy it....
On the left is Phil's picture, right is the one sold on Ebay.

This seller advertised on ebay with a dresswatch, ref. 190_10. Which, according to the Benno Richter list, doesn't exist.
He calls this movement AS 1758, which was never used by Breitling. (it does look like an AS 1758, mostly.)
I think Breitling never had these, how do you say, "guilded" movements.
3 x NO ! and i pass....

The most important thing for Phil is though: IF i'm correct and it is also Anton Schild 1758, AND it is a ref. 503 which is not in Benno's list:
like Roff said: total fake.

Kind regards, Marco

Many thanks guys, I have returned the watch for a refund citing this evidence and the opinion of a local watchmaker.

Next time i'll do the sensible thing and post before I buy....

You have to understand that the Breitling now and Breitling then is not the same company... notice that they said they don't have any pictures... I'm assuming this goes for any references to their past pieces...

It's your watch, and your money, but I've been here on this board long enough to know that the dial alone raises a red flag... I personally wouldn't touch it...

just my .02.
