I am an Exercise Physiologist n had a client give me an AOPA 806 yes ago. He was a pilot in WWII n gave it to me for the use of the chronograph. Not sure if either of us realized what it was. I need a new band n it also needs to be serviced as it's not working now. How do I get it restored, appraised and maybe sell?? |

I had my Breiling dealer open watch. It is a 92xxxx. Which sounds like 1960. It was running a few yrs ago and movement looks amazing I will be calling Breitling about getting it to work plus possibility of it going to museum. I got it from a friend that is in his 80's now and was a pilot in Hawaii after WWII. I'm interested in what others think and are willing to pay if I sell. |

I've split this from the original topic as it makes more sense on its own. 92 serials could be 1959 or 1960 depending on the rest of the number (1959 up to 922163). The value on these pieces is extremely dependent on condition and I'm not prepared to offer any thoughts without seeing pictures, preferably also showing the movement and inside of the caseback. If it's not running then that will certainly affect value, but if you are considering selling then you may not get your money back on servicing costs - that said, if it's not running at all then you likely should get it to running condition before trying to sell, otherwise you will take a big hit because of the risks of an expensive repair bill. We have a member in the US - chronodeco who may be able to assist you with servicing / restoration. His work is extremely good. |
