I have a Breitling Wakmann 640-24-10 aircraft clock, it's been sitting on my desk for the last 20+ years and I was wondering if it was actually worth anything. It is in mint condition, works perfectly the serial is #1313. Can anyone guess at the mfg date? |

Can you post pictures? They generally aren't hugely valuable (a few hundred bucks), but they are nice pieces. That sounds more like a model number than a serial number. |

The plate on the back says: Mfg model #640-24-10, Mfg serial No.#1313 |

Great reply....The low serial number was what made me wonder also. Do you have any leads for any online resources for serial number and/or mfg date lookups? ( I know that on some items the various digits of the serial mean something such as mfg plant, date, etc...) |

One more thing... The FBO that I worked for when I got the clock had been around since the early 1920's, The Cleveland Air Races were based there. So the clock being extremely old is not out of the question. |

It's from the 1950s and was made for the US market. It's military spec, but not necessarily military. Was pretty expensive at the time, but for whatever reason these things just don't hold their value. Take a look at page 12 - http://www.wakmann.de/uploads/media/wak ... g_1959.pdf |

Roffensian, Thanks for all of the info and your insights about this clock. Even if it's not that old or valuable it is still nice to know a little about it's history. |
