Post subject:  Vintage Breitling without serial number

Hi,

Who can shed some light on this. I recently bought this vintage Breitling with Venus 188 movement. It is in impacable condition but has no serial numbers on the movement or caseback. Could this Breitling be legit?
I asked the store (finewatchco) and of course they say it is, altough I do want to trust them, I want to ask you guys what you think of it just for peace of mind.
The seller told me that the dial has been retouched.

For sure the dial is a redo. The fact that it's advertised as a 1951 model (that specific) would indicate that there's a serial number somewhere. What else would he base that on? The movement is a correct era Venus 188. It would not have a serial number on it. Ask if the case back has a serial number on the inside. All forties and fifties Breitling chrono's would have a serial number somewhere on the outside or inside of the case. If there's no serial number on this one I would let it go.
