I was at a vintage race at Lime Rock Raceway over Labor Day Weekend and found a Breitling mechanical stopwatch for a very reasonable price. I popped the back off and found a beautiful movement stamped with a Breitling logo. Serial number on the case reads: 1400491. Any idea as to the age / model number? It works beautifully and has a delightful mechanical click followed by tick tick tick. I love it!

Paul knows more about the stopwatches than I do, the serial is an odd one - it's higher than the non chronograph list goes, but equates to 1972 on the chrono list - that still seems a little late to me.

These pieces aren't worth anything near what they should be in my opinion, but they are quality movements and when new were expensive pieces - nice first Breitling.

This pocket timer probably was sold in Europe originally because the US models all had Breitling Wakmann on the dial. I have the Wakmann catalogs up to 1973 and the style is consistent with this one, they sold for around $38 new. These were made from the 1950s to the 1970s.

Thanks - I attend a lot of vintage races - having a mechanical stopwatch enhances the experience. Now, I just have to find good deal on a Breitling wristwatch.
