She finally came to me

Image
Picture taken with my Android HTC Desire

and she's gorgeous !
Just need a good case cleaning.

As a follow-up to my previous message, it came with :
original period strap and buckle so everything is fine on this side,
extra silver bezel which needs a refenishing,
would deserve a new glass as some cracks are appearing from certain angles.

Any tips/leads related to the bezel and the glass greatly apreciated !

Will post a full detailed review for sharing when it'll have been cleaned

Thank you,

Laurent

Looks good - I like that strap.

The bezel refinishing will depend on the condition, but as I think was mentioned in your previous thread, chronodeco (Craig) would me my recommendation. Crystals are fairly easy to find and any competent watchmaker should be able to order one from their supply house. It won't be OEM but there is enough variation to find one that is close enough.

Hi Roff,

I will contact Craig shortly.
Bezel is in good condition, just need engraving + color refinishing.
Sorry, I'm away from home with no pictures with me.

Thx Palatas for the compliment.

Cheers,

Laurent

Thanks for the compliment,
I like very much this particular bezel too,
it creates a terrific deep black/colored combination nestled in a classic case from the 60's found with the 765CP and the Unitime (and very close to the 1st generation Heuer Autavia snap back cases by the way)

But this watch is most often seen with its silver bezel like this one :

And I'm really wondering what the original is, or maybe both are, just a period correct bezel variation ?

I like to have my watches as close to their original condition (and period catalogs configuration) as possible, if anyone would have a clue on this bezel topic, I would be very grateful if he could share it with us.

Cheers,

Laurent

I've seen both variations, not sure if there was a model number difference between them, but definitely sold with both types of bezel.

Thanks Roff,
It's a good thing to know for me.
Then I'll be able to wear it in 2 original liveries which is always sweet.

Cheers,

Laurent

Gratulation, a real great Breitling.

Both bezels are original, the black is the later later edition.

The first was the 765 CP, than the 7650 and 7660 with silver bezel, later he 7650 with black bezel, last the 1765 and 1765-36. later came the big case Co-Pilots 7652 and 7651 and 7661

The 7650 will go soon to a great watchmaker of my acquaintance for a soft case refinishing (and glass replacement) .
What is the factory finishing type over these series ?
Polished, brushed, ... ?????
Sorry to bother you with my multiple questions, but I'm a Breit newbie and despite intensive Internet browsing, I've been unable to find a proper pictures library to figure out.

Many thanks

Laurent

PS: Alex, thank you for your message and useful complementary bezel infos
