The back is stamped correctly and although it doesn't show very well on the photo, it has ref. number 2517

On page 155 of Benno Richters book, you find this ref. number.
2517 Round Case, Central second, automatic, waterproof, outside band attachments.

Attachments are exactly the same as ref. 2602 from the 1954 catalogue. So are the hands.
Came with original Breitling strap and buckle.

Inside a completely correct Felase 4000 automatic. Runs, as the seller promised.

Conclusion: REAL !

Stem and crown are missing but i ordered a new stem already. Set me back a whopping 6 dollars (including shipping)

My question is this.. I have to find a crown. Does anyone know FOR SURE wether around 1954 (and this model in particular) had the Breitling B on the crown ?

ah yes: and your opinion please. Shall i have this starburst dial reprinted ? Fresh white.... There are some spots.
It doesn't bother me but i wonder what you think...

If it were me I would try and have the dial cleaned, but I wouldn't have a redial done - it's not that bad.

I think that it should be a B crown, but I'm not 100% so don't rely on it.

Not many dresswatches on the forum. Am i the only nutty collector for these ?

I have some, but it's not my focus area and certainly not my comfort zone in terms of knowledge. I guess Breitling is known as a chronograph brand so that's where most people tend to focus their attention.

Well, i'm VERY interested, unfortunatly not very rich at the same time but have 6 now. And there will be more...funds allowing...
If i do say so myself, i'm quite knowledgable (is that how you say it in english ?). I have written my own book on Breitling dresswatches. More than 80 models with photographs front, back and caliber. (took me 3 years to collect these photo's) A few pages with all buckles, straps, boxes, calibers etc. A list of ref. numbers and calibers. Everything i need to roam through ebay and decide what's interesting and what's not.
Even working on a second one already. Now with going prices on Ebay. I keep track of every dresswatch sold on EBay worldwide, that isn't a fake. (that narrows it down quite substantially )
My dream is to have it available as a database on the net but built 2 sites and wasn't satisfied so deleted them again... but one day !
In the mean time i would be glad to help anyone who needs info about Breitling dresswatches.

That is a stunning watch jlee. I love extraordinary dials and this is one. Not too conspicuous, outrageous colors. Different but not screaming at you.

Is this one signed at the back... and with ref. number ?

Well Alex i have all the photo's, a lot of text and data, but it can not be used other than for me unfortunatly. Lot of copyright issues for texts and photos, and the quality .. well i know what i mean, i know what system i use and so on, but it's not a "bookstore" item.
The first one was much, much more work than i thought so to tell the truth... i'm not looking forward to redo it although it will be a lot better than my current one.

From what the vintage gurus here tell me, serial dates it to 1959...

It's only got the ref. number and serial number on the back... it doesn't have a signed CB but the crown has the B on it...

got some NOS pushers on them from chronodeco... running superb~!!
