Hello everyone.... This is my first breitling. I love the older winders and this watch fits the bill. I only purchased this watch because the price was crazy low. I expect bad news so here goes. This was purchased from a german dealer. The movement , case and crown are unsigned (that's why im skeptical). Any info you can provide ,including the expected bad news, would be appreciated... hopefully the numbers are clear but if not....758296 ...1196. The case is marked LF in a circle with ..plaque OR G 10 microns. located between the lugs at 6.

Not familiar with an 1196 off the top of my head so would need to look that up, serial is 1950. Unsigned movement isn't necessarily a problem. Case is gold filled and only 10 microns so not that thick. What's the wording underneath stainless steel back on the caseback? If it says shock protected then there is definitely a problem as the movement isn't shock protected.

Hmm.

Never seen that on a Breitling caseback before, and the caseback does look odd, although the numbers are not obviously wrong. See if anyone else chimes in until I get home and get a chance to look up the model reference.

Maybe it's made up by someone who's studied Richter... and made it look like it... if Roff hasn't seen it, then I definitely haven't seen it either... but then again, I think Paul, Craig, etc. might like to see it too...

OK, found the model.

It's consistent with an 1196 - round case, square button chrono with a Venus 188. I honestly can't see anything 'wrong' with it, I would like a really good shot of the caseback - the South Americans are getting good but the style of the model and serial numbers is generally a giveaway.

If this were a South American fake I don't think that they would have been able to resist putting Bretiling on the bridge so right now, my gut says real.

Its a very usual exampel for the cheaper production of chronographs in the begin of the 1950th,

100 % original
