i hope that this Forum will help!
I tried to get more infos about my old Breitling Chronograph ( 50's /60's? ) online, without any results. I really would like to know how old the Model is and how rare ( or often) this specifiv exemplar is. Uh, and of course something about the value, even if this is not that importend because its a family piece - however here are the "Facts" i have.

Breitling Chronomat in Gold (looks like 18k to me) - has a mark on the side "Plaque 20" and something that looks like a 16? > hard to read even undr microscope.
Steelback with no on the outside "217012" and 808
Inside is stamped "1141795"
The Movement looks like rose gold to me. Stampes 17 Jewels / unadjusted
The Dial is in a creamish color with the arrow design on the 12.

All in all is the watch in great shape, runs better then my other watches there is also teh original? case. But no paperwork.

Can anyone help me here? Taht would be teriffic!

Well pictures will certainly help, but here's what I can tell you so far.

It's gold filled, not solid gold - a sheet of 20 micron thick gold laminated to a steel base.

The model is an 808 Chronomat and it dates from 1967. The movement should be a Venus 175. The 217012 number is the Swiss patent number for the rotating bezel gearing. Let's wait until we see the condition before commenting on the value, but it's a very nice model.

Took me a little while to shoot the pictures - but finally here they are

It looks OK to me, a full on dial shot would be nice to see the condition, but nothing obviously wrong with it.

These pieces don't command the prices that I think they should, and rolled gold isn't the most attractive option for collectors, but this should be in the $2,000 range or close to it.

Still I'm curious about the movement. ALL pictures I've seen so of this particular movement where stainless steel. This one looks to me like rose gold? It is pretty heavy.
Ideas? Anyone?

Also where could I get the original manual and the other original supplies ( exept warranty etc. )?
Is the box the original box? Looks old but I've seen a diffrent design before?!

All in all I like to restore everything into its original state. Kinda crazy, but fun!

Movement is plated steel - need to check what they used in those days, not sure that it was rhodium. Trust me, you don't want a gold movement - it wouldn't stand up to use.

Once every 250 years you might find original manuals on eBay, but they are rare.

Click "Collectors and then bottom right "documents", it shows a selection of different boxs, althought for Navitimers the
styles would have been used for the Chronomat as well.

As Roff says Box's from this period are rare and highly sought after.

Hi all. New to the forum and just making my first post, but plan to be more active for certain.

This thread caught my eye because my Chronomat 808 is the reason I got into Breitling in the first place.

Mine has the highly sought after box (both inner Bakelite and outer two-piece cardboard) and ALL papers - unsigned warranty card, marketing brochures, owner's manual, service booklet, and even the cardboard slide rule trainer with its outer paper envelope. I've attached a picture but I will share the full watch and more shots of it in another thread later this evening!

However, for the OP's information, I don't think his box is original. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the Breitling logo on it is from the wrong era - more modern. I've never actually seen another box like mine. My father received this watch as a gift in the early 1960's and never really wore it - the entire package, as new from the dealer, was locked away in his safe for 50 years.
