Not to stir the ashes of the old discussions, but here's an 824xxx serial Navitmer on ebay.

It has an interesting box I've not seen before. Pictures aren't very clear, but it doesn't look like Incabloc protection.

As an extra puzzle here's an 806 case that sold on ebay. It has no serial number that I can see (unless super faint) although it does have the 806 on it.
The size of the 806 seems consistent with a later model Navitimer (1970 on) which had the number engraved on the outside and seems fainter
than the earlier serial numbers.

The question is why no serial number? Was it never delivered to Breitling because they went bust or did Breitling only put the serial number on when the watch was completed and this was stock they were holding when they went down?

Looks like a 'typical' 824xxx - if there is such a thing - larger beads being the obvious indication. I wouldn't be prepared to say what the shock protection was from those photos, though it clearly has some.

In terms of cases - the serial was definitely done at different times from the model number - at least during the stamped model / etched serial era. Could this be such a case with the serial worn off - maybe, although they are usually visible to some degree. Could it be a case that was sitting around in the late 70s - maybe, not sure if you could ever tell, although I was under the impression that those were all used.

I had an identical box with a 1965 Breitling Copilot so it's period correct.

I'm not sure what it all adds up to, just with all this talk of mis-stamped serial numbers it caught my eye.

If you've got a picture that would be great, I've not seen one like that before and the listing doesn't show a clear picture of it.

Have a great Easter everyone catch you after the hols.
