I am now hooked and I need my next Breitling fix ![]() Therefore, I need some advice/recommendation. If I was in the market for a Breitling in 1970, what were the popular models then? Thanks in advance. |

Check out the New Old Stock collection over at http://www.ewatchshow.com IMHO the 7104 in black or silver are good value and a nice design. Here's my favourite Seventies Breitling Attachment: IMG_6899 copy2.jpg .

Quote: That is awesome Yaffle Thanks Jlee5050 - I have to say I was suprised at how nicely the big cases wear - even on my pint sized wrist. Breitling came up with some nice watches in the Seventies, not quite the lost decade normally assumed. |

I'd still say that the Navitimer was the most popular Breitling watch in 1970, it only came with the big subdials that year. / Kurt B chewg wrote: I am now hooked and I need my next Breitling fix

I found this thread with much delight as I am also "In search of a 1970 Breitling..." 1970 being the year I was born and I would like to commemorate this special occaison with a special watch. I have approximately up to 2000 EUR to spend (although I can add to this if I need to) and have been looking for a while already - Mainly on the website http://www.chronos24.com I am interested in your opinions with regards to the watch itself... I would like to get an automatic watch with chronomat functionality and very much like the Navitimer, Cosmonaute and then the Top Time long playing ... The link to the booklet will help me a lot in selecting the watch, but the reason for this post is - I am asking for your help or suggestions with reputable (preferably) European dealers which may carry such watches, physical shops where I could visit would be fantastic that I could have a proper look prior to making the purchase else web pages... Thanking you in advance of any help which you are able to provide. With kind regards SW |

Can't help you much on European dealers, the dealers on Chrono24 are usually fairly reliable, although some of the prices are rather optimistic. In terms of watch, if you are looking for an automatic chronograph then we are into the calibre 11 / calibre 12 pieces and for me the Chrono-matic 1808 or 2110 are highlights. |

I don't think this brochure has been listed yet, nice high-res pics. http://chronomaddox.com/breitling/catal ... Half_Front In terms of seeing watches I can only speak about the UK, here's a pretty comprehensive walking tour of London shops. http://www.tz-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=98924 In Protobello you want to head for the Admiral Vernon - that's where most dealers stall up and hang-out. As always it will be pot luck what you find in terms of Breitlings and I think in most of these places you will find the prices considerably higher than ebay - although probably in line with Chrono24, but you will be able to see and handle some watches and get a feel for what you like. In terms of buying with some of the smaller dealers and the markets it will be a case of knowing enough about the watch to know what you're getting. There's a couple of London dealers I can put you in touch with and who may either have or will keep an eye out for pieces. PM me if that's of interest. Welcome to the hunt. ![]() |
