hi guys
this is my first post here and my first Breitling
thought i would do a short introduction my name is Wayne i am a watchmaker by trade specialising in Vintage OMEGA time pieces. not a great collector but im starting to get the bug
currently i own the following Omega's - Time Computer 2, SM300, and a Moonwatch.
and now my first Breitling

being a Breitling noob i have looked around for info on it and so far all i have is that its a Chrono-Matic made in 1969? calibre 12
i wondered if any of you could help out identifiying this watch correctly and maybe direct me in the right direction for any information on it.

It is indeed a Chrono-matic model 2110 from very late 1969.

It probably has a caliber 12, could also be an 11 (12 was faster beat at 3 Hz vs. 2.5 Hz.

There are a lot of different dial combos for this watch, but it looks OK for a 69 - later ones got rather funky with two tone dials and the running seconds moving to 10 o'clock and sometimes the date moving to 8 o'clock.

thanks for the info mate most appreciated, im also letting out a sigh of relief as i was dreading someone saying its a fake!!! i can tell an Omega fake a mile off but Breitlings a whole new ball game

is this model just called a Chrono-Matic? or is it a Datora?

ps could you recommend any good books?

I'm always wary of making statements about these models because there are so many weird and wonderful versions, but this one looks fine to me. Condition is good, but doesn't look refinished.

Would like to see a movement shot to confirm that's OK too.

yeah it dosnt seem to off been on a polishing mop or if it has it wasnt bad to begin with, i have a movment pic from the seller i will post if its ok

That looks good too. Apart from the rather obvious 'cal 12' on the bridge, the 12 is easy to spot as it's a gilded movement and the 11 was nickel plated.

Page 12 of the 1969 catalogue shows your watch, it's a chrono-matic, although the pic shows a different bezel, I'm pretty sure the one
you have is correct as well.

Honestly, I have no clue if that's an original type bracelet or not... it just came with the watch and the even funnier thing was it was sized EXACTLY for my wrists...

As if it was destiny...

But glad to meet another C-Matic fan... probably my fave pieces out of the Breitling vintage collection...

Welcome Wayne! I won't be able to see the pictures until I get home, but from what everyone says, it sounds like a nice piece. If you decide to overhaul it, I have a friend who has most of the parts for the cal. 11 & cal. 12 movements. He was a lifesaver when I overhauled my 1809 cosmo with the cal. 11. The only things that are difficult to obtain are mainsprings and rotors.

I got a digital copy of the oiling chart from some source on the web, although I can't remember where right now. It's hard to read, but you can make out the oiling points. There is a good description of the movement at http://www.timezone.com/library/archive ... 4105468750 that goes into good detail about the design. There are also exploded views of the movement and the DD chrono section on the web as well.

thanks for the info, i think i may well have to service it as shes running very slow on the chronograph causing minutes to be lost over a few hours!!!

if you remember where you got the oiling specs sheet from that would be a god send, i know omega chronographs inside out but they have nothing like this at all!
im sure i could do it free wheeling but its always better to be sure,
will take you up on your offer of parts from your friend if i need them as my contact is more for the newer stuff here in England.
