Can anyone help me identify the year/model of this watch. It has been willed to us and we wanted to buy a new glass face (very scratched) and strap (don't think it is authentic).

Many thanks

Front:
Breitling Geneve
Chronomat
Chrono-matic
Red date numbers

Back:
Breitling Automatic
DDE BR <> 11525/67

1324586

I'll try to upload some pictures.

Have scanned it, but still can't get detail to show well.

Will try something else!

Sorry, I need to use a camera with a macro lens. I'll come back to you as soon as I can get a good photo.

Well......

Better photos will be nice, but so far I think things are looking good. The strap likely isn't Breitling, but from what I can see I think that the watch is genuine. To be 100% we'll need to see front, back, movement and inside caseback (a watchmaker can help).

Assuming that it's real it is an 1808 Chrono-matic from 1969, and I would very strongly recommend a service as well as just replacing the crystal. We have a very good watchmaker as a member of the site with experience on Breitlings and he may be able to help you out - PM chronodeco (Craig).

I'm also going to move this thread to the vintage section.

Many thanks for the reply and info.

I'll let you know what the inside says, once we have someone look at it then.

Yes it is a real chronomat 1808

parallel to the Navitimers Breitling produced always a Chronomat in the same case in a much smaller number of units and with similar dials, but during the Navitimers had all black dials, the Chronomats had also "white" or white/black (real silver or creme not white) dials. The Chronomats with "white" dials are real rare bodys.

the counterpart of the Navitimer 806 was the Chronomat 828, ( not the 808 as one could believe, this was earlier ), the 828 is one of the biggest Breitling rarity, I saw only 3 in the world-marked last 5 years, but I never had one in my hand.

the counterpart of the Navitimer 816 was the Chronomat 818, Navitimer 1806-Chronomat 1808

Thanks so much for the extra information. We are hoping to find someone authorised here in the UK to service it & replace the glass, strap etc.
