Antiquorum's sale next week features some rarer vintage B's. Check out the merciless Hi-def images. If so, how was the experience. Always wondered? There was only one vintage Breitling in the Bonhams sale I went to this week. http://www.bonhams.com/cgi-bin/public.s ... ctionNo=1# The Navi was much cleaner than the pic suggests. It had a beautiful dial and a tight bezel. Nice piece. |

They sure missed the boat on #287. Do you all remember what the last one went for on Ebay? |

Antiquorum never could provide accurate estimates! Also remember that the buyers premium is around 20% and that's excluded from these estimates which always subdues them slightly. |

chronodeco wrote: There have been several fakes/frankens sold throught this organization - avoid! Craig How do you know? What's your evidence? I ask because this organization has a very good reputation and I know someone who buys from them from time to time and is very satisfied. I thought they stood behind their stuff (honestly) so I am quite surprized to hear this. I have never dealt with them except in those dreams I have about expensive vintage watches... |

So first I have to say thank you because I just learned that my LeJour Pasadena was actually made by Heuer! I always thought it was just a look a like with the same Valjoux movement, according to On The Dash, these were actually made by Heuer! COOL! Where did you info on Antiquorium, I couldn't find anything - could you please point to where on the site? ![]() yes, the crown is a replacement. |

To be fair all of the houses have been taken at some point or another, just like all of us collectors have made mistakes. That said, Antiquorum do seem to live off of their name a little and don't put as much effort in due diligence as might be appropriate. Their experts also lost some credibility with some extremely inaccurate estimates - most notably the Gandhi watch that they estimated at $20,000 - $30,000 that sold for over $2,000,000. |

chronodeco wrote: Do you work for the Antiquorum or is this just blind faith? First of all, don't be an ass. I don't work for Antiquorum, and if I did my question was still legitimate. I asked for you to back up your statement because I have read many forums where people make all kinds of claims - sometimes with no foundation. Some of the proof you gave is just that - people on forums making unsubstantiated claims. As often happens on the net, people think that just becuase someone puts it in writing, and then 10 other website cite it, it must be an authenticated statement. Some of the links you gave, certainly appear credible and I think your case is made and my question is answered. I see that there is certainly room to question their practices and precision (or lack of precision). I just never saw any of this bad press about Antiquorum before, so now I know. If I invested that kind of money through an auction house - only to be taken - I'd be, well... unhappy. Looking around, I see they have had more then a few similar issues. Very poor form. |
