This is a real oddity. I've never seen a display box like this before.

It actually has a motor in it which rotates the watch, I haven't had it running myself,
but I'm pretty sure it does work. The inner part is a seperate unit that can be removed.

Some people have suggested a watchwinder, but my gut feeling is it's a shop display
unit.

Initially because of the Deco styling my thoughts were early 50's, but looking at the motor and
the fact it's battery powered makes me guess a little later, late 50's early 60's.

Pretty sure it's a display unit. A bettery powered watch winder from that era probably wouldn't last a night with fresh batteries. Pretty cool! Thanks for the pics.

I agree that it's a display unit. I have never seen anything remotely like it - very cool.
