Look who's selling it. He should know better. Once again it's about what he's not saying, refinished dial, the added 'Breitling' to the inside caseback. The numbers actually look ok but the movement looks fishy. Could be another case from South American example of an overdone restoration where they seem to think everything has to be triple signed and make it that way.

Sounds like you know him? It says original dial and hands, does that mean the movement is out of a different watch?

It could be the original dial redone but it uses the wrong font on the Breitling lettering.

I have always had a lot of respect for Bill's pieces, although I have never personally done business with him.

However I have noticed that some of his recent pieces have been less than stellar in terms of quality, and while he will never deliberately mislead, you have to carefully read his descriptions for what is not said - he'll avoid making mention of any questionable areas.

In this case, there is no description at all, which is highly unusual for Bill, and suggests to me that he knows that this is a watch with problems.

Thanks guys, it's real refreshing to see all the input from people who know what their talking about. Most forums wont even let you mention replica's even if it's to point out fakes! You guys are doing a wonderful service to anyone looking to pick up a pre-owned Breitling!!

I've seen these movements before... in a lot of the older non-chronos though... the Breitling inscription on the wheel... according to Craig, it's legit... but the dial doesn't look like it...

You don't usually see the wheel in the movement marked Breitling then also have it engraved on the movement itself. Usually the wheel is all you see on these movements.

I stand corrected... didn't notice that one...

It looks like he has posted some updates to his original listing. It seems that this "Bill" has some friends and enemies on the site as I have seen both praise and criticism for him in different posts.
Do his updats change anything about your feelings on this watch. I really want to get a unique vintage ling, but I of course want it to be authentic and run like a champ. Any idea of what its value should be? Any other suggestions on where to shop for a vintage peice is welcome.

Thanks

Still feel the same about the watch. Based upon that it's only worth what you're willing to pay for it. I'd look for a better example with zero issues. If you find something just run it by the forum before purchasing. Some sellers don't even know they're selling altered watches.

+1

Incidentally, Bill is a member of the site, though not sure how often he posts.

And to be clear - I wouldn't consider myself 'friend' or 'enemy'.
