Hi,

A friend of mine is looking at an original Breitling Superocean, time only, automatic movement.

http://twilightdivewatches.wordpress.co ... -original/

It's this model. I've scanned the archives and can see some talk in the past about this, but no pictures come up.

Does anyone know the correct movement for this and how it should be marked?

If anyone has one I'd love to see a picture of it.

Thanks for any help you might be able to give.

Have your friend look at the movement around the balance to see what the markings are. From there we can figure out what it has. I'm thinking Felsa but not 100% sure. Another one here:

I think it's a modified Felsa too, but I've never seen any 100% confirmation.

Thanks.

There's an interesting discussion on Timezone about it.

They don't seem to have a conclusive answer either!

Some High-res pics here.

Should my friend get it, I'll see if I can have a look.

BTW - Have you seen them without screw down crowns?

Well if he likes it and the price is right, they aren't that common.

In terms of non screw down crowns, from memory the first ones in 1957 had screwdown crowns and I can't believe that Breitling would have taken a step backwards in a dive watch by producing one without the screwdown. That said, I don't know that for sure.

What's confusing is that I have the chronograph version of the watch
and that doesn't have a screw down crown.

Also the 2005 doesn't have a screw down crown nor does the other one
shown in the 69 catalogue with the cyclops. However the later big case does.

I suppose it's possible they adapted the model over it's production run.

You are talking BS.
Take photos and post them normally, without linking them to your commercial and selling sites.

I just don't believe in that.
Take a photo and upload it as attachment.

This is where you upload your photos.

For complete clarity........

I recommended that Michael (BreitlingMuseum) use Photobucket to host his pictures. At the moment he is trying to use two of his own sites:

1) His store where he sells Breitlings
2) His forum where he promotes his store that sells Breitlings.

Admin has blocked links from both of those sites as Michael is not a commercial supporter of the site and no one is allowed to promote their commercial ventures except the supporters whose banners appear at the top of the page.

Michael claims that his sites are non commercial.

He has hosted one picture on Photobucket and tried to link it to here. I couldn't see anything wrong with the tags, but for some reason it didn't show properly so I personally attached his picture as he had tried to comply with the rules and faced a technical challenge. I would do the same again if he had Photobucket issues.

Michael has repeatedly been warned not to link to his sites and no further warnings will be given, continued refusal to comply with the rules will result in a ban as the next step.

Despite receiving abusive PMs from Michael I do not want to ban him as he has a tremendous amount to offer the community, but if he cannot comply with the rules and continues to post comments attacking the site then I have little choice.
