I think most surviving premiers are ss. Breitling may have made more gold, but I think a lot were scrapped in the early 80s.

Not sure about this one, and suspicious of the lack of caseback. Off to catch a plane so can't really resaearch but condition looks a little too good for the age.

Yea I e-mailed him for the pic of the caseback... maybe the watch has had some TLC sometime during its period?

I was comparing it to your 777 Roff and doesn't look too different... crown and pushers... anything else maybe?

Well he does say " 1946, Reference #789, Serial #696620" which is information all gathered from the back cover so obviously he has it. The only issue I see about the missing cover would be it's condition. Looks like a nice watch and one of those that falls in the gap between 1946 and 1947 where I always wondered why there is a gap in the serial numbers. Judging by this link the buy-it-now was a good deal.

What I sometimes do when there once was a BIN, and later I find it and it was a good deal, is ask the seller if he'll still sell it at the original BIN price. I've got a few that way before the bidding gets crazy.
