Two auctions. One just ended last week. Same seller from China. Same pics of what at least to my untrained eye to be a 1953 806 going for a pretty good deal. One is already sold as BIN (best offer) the other is still available. I guess it's possible the deal fell through and it's for sale again but if not, what are the odds? Does the watch look OK guys? http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Breitling-1 ... 286.c0.m14 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... K:MEWAX:IT |

Well I can't honestly see very much wrong with it. The chrono seconds hand is non original, and I think the subdial hands are replacements, though they are period correct. The dial may have been refinished at some point. The 806 stamped into the caseback looks a little off, but not enough for me to say that it's definitely wrong. There are persistent stories (I have never seen proof) that there were a bunch of watches with 1953 serial numbers released in or around 1960, and there do seem to be more 53s than other early years. The biggest concern is obviously the fact that the same watch is being sold twice. |

Two of the sellers last seven watch auctions, a vintage Zenith and a Hamilton, were removed by ebay. That along with the relisting of this watch, if that is what it is, doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in the seller. Thanks for the info Roff. Even though it's very tempting I think I will let this one slide. |
