Oh wow!

Well apart from the fact that he describes it as a 'Cronomat', here are a few problems - I'm sure that I'm missing some Craig  :

Hands - all of them
Slide rule
Case
Pushers
At least part of the movement (bridge, plate beneath the bridge also look wrong), and it doesn't fit the case
Dial
Crown
Caseback

Strap looks like it might be genuine leather though

If I am not mistaken, the movement is one of those new chinese venus copies. What a piece of work.

Could be, suspicious that the photos are out of focus. Clearly there are a few problems just from the shape of the bridge and the fact that you can see too much of the top pusher stem. I've not got photos of the Chinese movements to compare, but it also doesn't look very refined.

Hard to tell if the plates and bridges have bevelled edges - the lack is a common give away of Chinese.

Bridge looks identical doesn't it!

Can't tell about the plates as it's hidden underneath the case in the comparison photo, but does look the same.

Something else we need to look out for going forward

It's a legitimate movement - Seagull are one of the best known Chinese manufacturers. They just don't design most of their movements, they base them on movements that are out of copyright protection. The issue is when those movements are used as replacements for the originals. Fortunately this one's easy to see the problems with - I just didn't realise that it was a Chinese movement rather than a frankenmovement.

You guys are correct about the Chinese movement. The hidiously incorrect hands must have come with the movement. What I am most curious about is the early Chronomat case and dial? It appears to be custom made and not original - something I have not seen before in fake vintage Breitlings. Could be a bad sign of things to come - fakes that are harder to spot. With a correct bridge and hands plus a numbered back, these would be a real danger to collectors. Craig

So these movements... who uses them? Who do they sell to? Would there be a possibility that they end up in counterfeit modern watches? I'm sure they have to supply SOMEONE who in turn makes watches too...

Seagull make their own brand watches

http://www.seagullwatch.eu/index.php

I have a couple of their vintage automatics which, thankfully, don't have the fake tourbillon as their current models have.

The ST-19 is used in lots of fake chronographs. Have a look at #10 in my list of Top 10 Breitling replicas.

They're real flying tourbillons, not fake.

But WAY overpriced for a Chinese tourbillon!

We are way off topic now, but.......

La Swiss, the main Breitling AD in Canada sells their own brand of watches, including a Chinese flying tourbillon for around $C2,000.
