Paul,
I have a Chronomat from '67, ref. 808 (please see the thread towards the bottom of this forum) that is stainless steel but with a beaded bezel instead of the usual coin edged type that was used. I'm only familiar with the gold filled version having the beaded bezel and not the stainless. Does the Benno Richter book state anything about this model having a beaded rice bezel on particularly the stainless model? I can't seem to get an answer on this.
Best,
Joe
There isn't any relavent information in the Richter book and most of the pictures are black and white. It would be interesting to know if both versions of the bezel where available within the same production year. You might send an email to Mark Heist, since he's the Breitling authorized service point for vintage watches, and see what his opinion is. He's probably seen about everything. My 1969 catalog just says you can get the 808 in either steel or gold but doesn't mention a choice of bezels. It shows the coin edge bezel.
