I have a 1967 Breitling Sprint with WOG stamped in the balance brigde. I have learnt that this is the import-code to US for Breitling watches during the Wakemann period. Does this mean that you can find the same watch without the WOG stap made for sale in Europe? Was all WOG stamped Breitling watches sold in US? Does anyone know? Regards Jarl |

The use of WOG (and more rarely BOW) is an indicator that the movement was produced for Breitling, and the Wakemann connection is correct, but it was hit and miss. There doesn't seem to be much consistency between whether a movement was stamped or not, and it certainly doesn't seem to be that every piece shipped to the US for assembly was stamped. It's a good indication that the movement is original Breitling, but beyond that it's risky to read too much in. |
