Conclusive proof that the “Raquel Welch” AVI had a steel bezel..
Mine is serial range 101

there was never a doubt about that?
the question we are discussing here is the big sub dial on a Raquel ;)

we have „transitions“ of dials, movements, cases, bezels.

all are different between „pure“ Raquel and JCK

these transitions happen with every model change, Navitimers, Toptimes, SuperOceans - and, of course, Copilots.

so, without going into several sub-executions:
1953-1961: Mk1, 765AVI allblack dial and beaded steel, aka Lucy, both analog and digital minute counters
1962-1965: Mk2, 765AVI panda and steel, “small” panda, aka Raquel
1965-1968: Mk3, 765CP panda and black alu, “bigeye” panda, aka Jean-Claude Killy
1969: Mk: Mk4, 7650 panda and black alu, “fat case”

note the movement function changes with the JCK too, minute subdial advance after 30 seconds.

there are transitions between these, as there was no “cut” between the executions, parts were used as long as they were available in the parts bins, no strict fifo on cases - but if u have a bigeye dial on a 1963 Raquel, it is incorrect; on a 1965, the same year the new execution was launched, it can be expected on some watches.

A nice summary @WatchFred. I know you weren’t going into sub executions, but I wonder if you might conjecture where fully numbered (1, 2, 3, 4, 5...) milled edge steel bezels changed to partially numbered (|, 2, |, 3, |...) on the Mk2. For example, based on what you have written above about transition, is there a mismatch between the bezel and dial on this one from 1964?

62/63(64?) “small” panda
64/65 "large" panda ?
65/67 . "JCK"

thats somehow in my head , will revisit when I get back but afaik the large subs were introduced in 63/64 and then carried over to JCK ?
