it would be interesting to hear what was included in the Breitling repair offer, that should be easy to find out, do they claim to have original bezel and hands ?

the piece I posted had the hands replaced by Breitling CH. So I assume they dont have those anymore and will use what they used before.

Seems to me they wouldn't be interested in the Superocean, or it's missing parts, if they didn't already have a source for the parts and someone to restore it. I think I'd go for their offer as it would be less hassle to sell the Chronomat 41 if you're planning on selling anyway.

Value is determined by a number of factors being able to see the watch all views in high definition pictures (top ,bottom, sides and movement) help set the price and value of the piece then checking how much this unit has sold for at any recent auctions ,ebay and other sources. Also helps with its assessment for pricing purposes. And lastly what will the market bare .

Now the good or bad news is there a demand for this piece ? I have located a 1958 superocean in France for sale the asking price is $ 10,389.00. Model number 2004 and on the same link is the model 2005 a 1965 superocean price on that is just over $5000.00
http://www.chrono24.com/en/breitling/pre-owned-superocean-watches--mod30-used.htm

The full retail price of the Chronmat 41 on metal strap in Vancouver BC Canada is $ 8960.00 with out your standard Breitling discount . I would negotiate up to a Chrono GMT retail is $ 9820.00 and it is a much easier watch to resell. I would trade the superocean for the Chrono GMT and sell that if I needed loot .

yeah thats real strange , where's the tame resident clairvoyant that can accurately assess and value a 50-60 year old watch without pics

It would appear that the OP is happy becasue he got a number. The fact that said number has absolutely no bearing in any know reality would appear to be of little concern..........

Hi Roff
I gave a method for determining price I did not give a price ( after all Breitling thought is was worth trading a Chron 41 for it ) , my advice is based on having comparables and very good pictures or having the watch in hand , imagine giving a price with out seeing the piece , Why that's as crazy as giving house prices in Toronto sight unseen ,oops bad comparison ! well not really. Then having a bidding war .
