Did you really see watches with triple marking Wakmann + Breitling + Gigandet? I saw Wakmann only, or Wakmann+Breitling, or Wakmann+Gigandet, but never Breitling+Gigandet or Wakmann+Breitling+Gigandet .

no Phil, this is a misunderstanding.

The watch was manufactured by Charles Gigandet, marketed by Wakmann in the US, using Gigandet, Wakmann and Vulcain branding.

sellers (ebay and otherwise) have decided to call the watch "Wakmann Breitling Datora" or sometimes "Wakmann Breitling Gigandet Datora" in their listings to add value, though it was never afaik really manufactured with the Breitling brand, though there is a thread here in the forum where a member believed his Gigandet was authentically branded Breitling.

Have never seen one beyond doubt marked Breitling or Wakmann/Breitling, seen no advertsing or sales material for it. It imho is NOT a Breitling and NOT a Datora, as this was a Breitling trademark.

Just look at this one : http://cgi.ebay.fr/Breitling-Gigandet-D ... 2c63747f99

No Breitling mention on this watch, but everywhere in the description of the seller, who forgets to mention the brand Gigandet . . This kind of description is intentionnaly made to drive the customer to confusion , as Breitling - Wakmann is more valuable than Gigandet! Note the case with beveled lugs which participate to the Breitling look...

Very nice Vulcain Fred.

Here's the wakmann and Gigandet versions from their catalogues.

First circa 1960.

second from 66/67

As a comparison the steel chronomat in the 60 catalogue is $120 and the Navitimer is $190.
While in the 66 ctalogue the Chroomat is $140 and the Navi is $200.

So a $20 price rise over 4/5 years. Wish inflation was the same rate today.
