am I missing something. The link shows an 18K version with red hands???

I have no issue with the hands being red, I have an issue with those red hands - compare with Alan's, they're different. They should be thinner and with a longer tail on the central seconds. It also looks worse because they are new and the other hands are older.

Roff just an off note question. the minute and hour hands are they not later date? the ones I see are thin and no lumes.

Looks fine to me.

Chronomat had lume / non lume hands in the 40s, but nowhere near as many non lumed examples, and I've only ever seen them (legitimately) on black dials.

Here's my 769 that I picked up about a month ago. I replaced the balance staff and new crystal but I need to track down a case screw. I'm guessing the small hands are not original as they have tails on them. I'll have to find a set of them as well.

Central seconds hand isn't original either, but looks nice - that's what the caseback should look like.

On the basis of this thread, I decided to go ahead with the purchase, despite the "off" red hands and the possibly bogus inner caseback "Breitling." As it turned out, seller had another Chronomat, so we ended up doing a deal for the pair - here is the end result. I think the other is reasonably sound as well based on what I learned from you all (hands closer to what they should be?, no 'breitling' on the inner caseback, unfortunately not a Premier movement and this possibly nonoriginal to the watch, but a 'Breitling" marked Venus 175).

I started out looking for a ref 769 in steel, but this is what opportunity threw my way. The focus of my collection is chronographs about a generation later than these, so they are a bit of a departure for me, but I have no reason to regret the purchase now that I've got them in hand.

Second one looks nice from what we see, obviously can't comment on the movement.

Congrts on the pickups.
