Sorry if there is another post out there but just received this book. My copy is in french but lots of pictures. I can not say how accurate all the watches are but most look good. Here some pages with both types. The write ups are nothing new. short example...

both wristwatches wrong, the stop watch might be correct. and the Navi on the cover has a replacement dial. from the small excerpts I have seen up to now, this book makes Benno shine.

Agreed, not impressive at all, and potentially dangerous.

I didn't come to the book with any large expectations myself. I thought you would find the problems I have noticed on the examples. Yes, the book is disappointing but without qualified vintage experts publishing these collector's guide books, this is what people have to refer to. I agree with what Roff said, "potentially dangerous." How fortunate or unfortunate it is in french and not in English seems to limit the distribution in the US.

Here are more pictures how the book is organized and another example. Then again, if these examples are the best these experts are seeing, the vintage market is going to get a H*LL of a lot harder.

I’ve seen these timepieces rise. I suppose with all of these price increases from sellers, this is where I feel that the value of previously-owned timepieces are going up while the quality is going down. The images in this book are from so call experts in previously-owned (or vintage) watches and they are displaying inaccurate incorrect timepieces. Now it’s a vintage game to tell if it’s a redial, the wrong hand or the correct movement.

Nevertheless, the ownership of a good and correct timepiece is what makes them worth the effort.

Eerrrmmm. Yes, thats what we have been doing here for years and continue to do for many years
Its indeed the vintage game and a book, any book, doesnt change a thing about that

IMO it (a book full BS and fudd) doesn't make collecting easier , harder, cheaper or more expensive if you DYODD

Hi dempsey,

Thank you for bringing this book to our attention. Seems by the commentry here that this book is flawed, and for that reason I thank you for sharing something that I would not have known about otherwise.

Ok i got irritated and asked the authors if they plan to correct theor mistakes that are currently in their book, i dont expext a reply

Hello, sorry to bother you but I saw you have co written the new book on breitling vintage watches ?
As i browsed through some of it and saw some pictures of watches i noticed that there are a lot of mistakes in the book and even watches that are not even original breitling watches but pure fakes !? .

Will there be a revised copy of the book with all the mistakes corrected and fakes taken out ? , by releasing a book full of misinformation your are giving false information to the breitling collector community .

Rgds Rene

Rene, Roff and Fred, with the number of all correct watch references you'll have, can we have a book from you'll that will finally be a Bible to Breitling collectors?:)..even an eBook if not a hardcopy one for starters?

Honestly I dont have the time that it would take making a book , ebook or normal book
I imagine it will take take several months of 8 hour workdays and that is also something my employer would frown upon

I have thought about it in the past, and I know that Fred has as well, but two things put me off:

1) The lack of absolute information makes accuracy very difficult in many cases which will result in a lot of supposition, lowering the quality of the work. Also, let's face it, not everyone has the ability to have different opinions in a respectful manner and frankly I don't need to deal with that.
2) Having written a book already and knowing the process, it's a huge amount of work that would never generate any kind of return.
