Definitely not common - not Kif or the 'Breitlingchoc', don't recall seeing it before. Craig probably recognises it at first glance!

Well Craig does recognize it, but he is a very practical person: "saw them, worked, but no idea how they are called" ;)

Inquisitive Fred, on the other hand ......

seems to be Breitling Shock, Roff ?

found that great resource (for a small minority of crazies like us), the index pages of the
1967 Flume catalog; never knew there were that many different shock protections,
several seem close, but hooves in the plains of Idaho .....

Agreed - Breitling Shock / breitlingchoc it is. I didn't see the slight B shape the first time around just looked straight edged.

Wow, I really learnt something new today ! A new keypoint to check in order to assess an original Breitling caliber . I guess that only Venus 170 or 175 ordered by Breitling were fitted with a Breitlingshock Incabloc. A good way to identify a "recycled" caliber.
Great, Fred!

Not quite that simple.

Breitling shock is an alternative to incabloc, not a variant and I have never seen any consistency to its use. Certainly it's an indication of a movement meant for a Breitling, but an absence isn't necessarily a problem on the same models.

actually it was rather rare, Phil; surprisingly so - and I thought it had gone by 67 - but have not delved into the history of that shock protection. will see what I can find out. every day I realize how little I know is a good day - and it happens quite often.
