+2, well said, San. Quite tasteless - and not too smart, really.

Leo, looking forward to see the pics, though, with all due respect and understanding your love for this watch, we already did "figure out which movement you have"

It is a very, very beautiful watch in very nice condition (although you have been hiding this well with your pictures up to now  )- and will be a wonderful memento to hand down to your son !

Trust me in that most of the offers to buy sent to me in PM's occurred on the TRF Watch Forum and not here on this forum. Today I should be able to get some decent pictures taken and will post when I do. If the pictures do not come out very good I do have one other option for Macro shots and will talk to that friend and set up a time to meet. As for the sub-dial hand missing at 6 o'clock...I did find it and it's laying loose at the bottom of the dial so I will only need to replace the chronograph pusher as well as any gears and other parts inside the movement when it's taken apart and overhauled............thank you everyone for your time, thoughts, opinions and advise and am looking forward to eventually have this watch on my wrist to have and use(especially if I can pry the Rolex GMT Pepsi off my wrist long enough)!!!

Btw. someone mentioned to me on TRF that they wondered if my Father was a member of AOPA. I did contact them(AOPA) and received an Email two days ago.....and yes he was a member from 1952 through 1969 when he let his membership expire.......I plan on talking to them further to see if they have an info on my Dad that they can share with me!!!

too bad he didn't buy a Navitimer in 1952 , that would be the all singing & dancing elusive 1952 model :D

You can if you want but let me explain that I was offered $5500.00USD and turned the offer down(it also will go to my son one day). I also have a 2006 BNIB Rolex Sub ND which is currently a safe deposit box queen because I like the Pepsi too much. I bought it because it was sold to me at a fantastic discount.....

Okay, everyone here are a few pictures and as already stated it is a Venus#178 movement even though it is stamped 'BOW' on the movement.....I was wrong about the movement and am taking ownership of my mistake!!!

I am sorry but these pictures are the best I can do with a point and shoot camera and lack of a shadow box and a good true Macro Camera lens.....oh guess what the hand to the dial at 6PM I found floating around at the bottom of the dial. Also it was almost lost because at the coin shop I took it to(for his watch guy to look at and he told me it was a very nice piece) the hand fell out and we just happened to find it.....pure luck!!!

Leo, as stated before, Venus 178 w/ BOW is the correct marking for the production year, no surprises here.

Very, very nice watch and a wonderful heirloom, congrats !

I would suggest you contact Craig (pm member chronodeco) to have it serviced, there seems ti be no restoration work needed (as far as I can see), replacement crystals and correct pushers are available.

Thank you for taking a look and contributing to my learning process and I sure wish I could of supplied better pictures but cameras and photography are not one of my strong suits.....

My expertise is in all things Horticulture. From growing veggies and fruits to growing ornamental trees, shrubs and evergreens and mixing in perennials and annuals to create mixed flower beds and borders(True American Contribution to Landscape Design to Landscape Architecture). I do design work for homeowners and give consultation to all who ask. I also have a soft spot in my heart for Dwarf/Mutated evergreens and Miniature Hostas. I also know most all cultural care information on Tropical foliages plants and Cactus and Succulents. My fees are expensive but I am very good at what I do and give a client 110% of my time and effort until projects are completed. I do consultation only as my health is limited due to being on Disability for Rheumatoid Arthritis..........but I do enjoy fine wrist watches and collect Pocket Watches as well. I especially like old Railroad watches from Hamilton and Illinois to Howard, Ball and a few of the Elgin.............

If we're giving out recommendations, I strongly suggest you contact Horological Services (horologicalservices.com) as the designated vintage Breitling service. I believe your watch deserves it.
