Afternoon all.

I have a 1969 Breitling TopTime 810 that needs a bit of polishing to the case. The scratches aren't deep and there aren't any big dings in it, so it should be relatively easy. (As a slight aside, it just received a full service from a chap here in the UK that came recommended from the forum. Seems to have done a very good job with the service, but for some strange reason said he couldn't polish the case "because of the chrono pushers." I found this very odd).

Anyway, I've polished a few other watches that had similar scratching with some cape cod cloth, and they've come out ok. Not perfect, but given I wear the watch regularly it's bound to continue getting scratches over time, it's good enough for me. But I just can't seem to figure out whether the stainless steel Top Time case is meant to have a polished, or brushed look! I've compared it to other watches I have, and it seems to be in the middle of the two! I'm pretty sure it should be polished and that years of scratches have made it look almost "semi-brushed", but wanted to check on here before doing something stupid. Any help would be great. Thanks to all!

p.s. don't have my camera with me for photos, although not sure they would help here. Can happily put some on later.

Great link, Roff, thanks! Can't say I like the brushed look - doesn't seem to suit it at all. Looks like I'll be going for the polished look.
