These guys used to sell through catalog mailings to interested customers. They had some really nice stuff and priced it accordingly. They have slowly moved to the internet as another marketing venue. I still get an occasional mailing, but not nearly as many as they used to send out. I bought several rare pieces from them many years ago. Sometimes they would negoitiate, but not on a very rare item.

They used to have a ton of parts and a couple of watchmakers on call to fix the better stuff they purchased. Richard Gilbert was one of the authors of the annual guide to watches publication. His main associate, Jim Wolfe, left several years ago and went to Heritage Auctions. I think Richard's son is now running the day to day operation and I've noticed a decline in the rarity and quality of the offerings.

They are located in Sarasota, FL and get tons of estate stuff. A lot of people move to Florida to retire and usually take their smaller stuff with them. When they die the heirs sell the stuff and these guys are always buying. The basic philosophy is that sooner or later someone will pay the asking price.
