Always knew these were hard to fake...

http://cgi.ebay.com/BREITLING-806-NAVIT ... 33654597e2

I guess they still are...

I think I could've redone that dial better...

The sad part is there are bids... :(

Are you sure its a fake ?
I saw this one and just saw it as a very bad restoration , you sure its fake ?

hands look OK
Raised AOPA wing on dial
case and case back look OK
bezel fits

Sliderule ring 'iffy'

NOT OK :
Badly fitting plexi
Crown not original
Dail incorrectly painted

So if I buy this I only need to replace the dial , crown, slide rule ring and plexi to have a prefectly wearable and (as far as I can tell ) original watch ..... or am I missing something ?

Yeah I think it's bones are good. The dial is obviously the headline abomination, but looks like a real 806 underneath that mess.

In this case (a wee pun), a shot of the movement would be good. There has been enough restoration to wonder whether it has its original movement.

I've picked my choice of words badly... didn't mean "outright fake"... but far from 100%... the worse thing is the seller's description. He claims "no signs of major work or repair done".

Someone might have the sources to extra parts but from my knowledge most of the parts needed to restore to its original glory is a bit difficult.

I agree that that is indeed simply not true .. this one has more work done to it than many other watches !

I have the parts , only took 10 years to "find" (= buy when you can) them but this one is about to be more expensive than I am willing to fork out for a watch that will take all my spares !
