An interesting box, I've not come across this logo before, like AOPA wings but with a watch dial.

Not seen that either, or anything similar.

The box does seem genuine and the logo at first glance appears like a variation of the Breitling wings.
Could it be a third party retailers insignia, like the shop it was sold through?

I don't know - the automatic assumption is always to cry fake of course, but I don't see anything wrong with it. It may be a special run for a dealer, an organization, etc - that makes a lot of sense with the odd logo outside and the Breitling name inside.

Looks a little like the Mercedes Benz star in the middle?

I thought that too - but the wings throw it - from a distance it actually looks like a much less appealing German symbol (!), which makes me think that it may not be Germanic in nature - wounds still too fresh at this time? Just speculation.

Pretty common box for the mid sixties Breitlings. Had a few on them. There were also some square versions with the same logo. General price range for an empty box like this is $150-$250 but you can put any large B in it from the mid sixties because it's a good size.

That is interesting Paul. Thanks.

Do you think this is an official Breitling logo of the period, or a third party logo?
