Just wanted to be the first to say congratulations to Roff/Andy on being the first member to reach 5,000 posts! I know its not a race but instead a number to show the amount of dedication and time he has to this forum. We hope you are around here for a long time and from me personally I appreaciate everything you do here as a mod!

Lets let Roff be the FIRST to reply and then everyone follow with their kind words! Roff if you see this in time! make your 5,000th post for this thread!!!

Well how can I refuse...

Here is my 5,000th post - and probably fairly indicative of my usual level of contribution!

I'm not sure what it says about my commitment to work, but oh well - it's a fun place to hang out

AND HE HAS DONE IT FOLKS!!! I HAVE BEEN WAITING ALL WEEK TO CATCH HIM RIGHT AT THIS POINT..ONE SMALL STEP FOR MAN ONE GIANT LEAP FOR...uhh i dont think so Andy but well you get the point

First of all, thanks for all of your input and time (and patience). It is greatly appreciated.

For those of out there that are stats freaks (like me), some interesting stats:

It took Roff 637 days to reach 5,000 posts, averaging 8 posts a day.

Driver needs 270 posts to hit 5,000. He has reached 4,730 in 640 days, averaging 7 posts per day. At this rate, Driver8 is projected to reach the 5,000 mark in 39 days (on June 2, 2009).

But, the most blistering pace has been set by In2Deep. In2Deep needs 180 posts to hit 5,000. But, he has reached 4,820 in only 306 days, for an average of 16 posts a day. If that pace continues, he is projected to hit the 5,000 mark on May 5, a total of only 317 days! He is apparently living up to his username!

And lastly, I have to mention our vigilent br549. br549 "only" has 595 posts, but he has reached that mark in only 58 days, averaging 10 posts per day. At this rate, he is projected to hit the 5k mark in only 487 days (on June 27, 2010).

Well congratulations are indeed due to Mr Roff. You'd have thought with all that practice he'd have come up with a few words of wisdom by now........... but sadly no. Never mind, maybe the next 5000 will yield something worthwhile!

Just kidding Roff me old mate! Nice going! You've certainly had a spurt on the posting front of late because not so long ago you were lagging behind me by some margin. Now you're leading the way. Excellent work!

Congratulations on 5000 Roff!

Yes there has been a direct relationship between my increase in daily posts and the downturn in the economy - unfortunately. I think also it's partly to do with you slowing down Driver8 (and Mario too). I have also seen a profound widening of my horological interests in the last 12 months or so which makes a difference - I feel that I can contribute in a few more areas now. The Vintage section is a lot busier than it was when it first started too - that's always somewhere that I spout nonsense.

I'll try and add at least some value occasionally as I head towards 10,000, and I have decided to artificially pad my stats with a post or two in the gallery section over the weekend of a new piece that arrived this week so those that were wondering what it was will be put out of their misery. Look out for some atrocious photography - probably tomorrow.

In truth I have slowed up on the posts a bit lately, probably because (and in a reversal of Roff's reasons) I've been a lot more busy at work of late. Terrible, I know.

Anyway, congrats again to Roff, and we're all looking forward to those pics!

I can only echo the other posts.

Vast knowledge and thoughtful responses which are much appreciated.

My problem with slowing down is similar to the "D Man" in as much as I have been quite busy since the start of the year. That coupled with the lousy mobile dongle I'm using has made it a frustrating few months on the forum for me.

So - here's to the next 5000 - let's hope The Breitling Source will be going as strong then too

BTW - are we permitted to know the honour which Admin will be bestowing on your highness?
